The Piano Chart is an interactive visualization tool that highlights the interconnectedness of Arctic climate changes and their cascading effects on global systems.
This is a yearly Arctic sea ice extent rankings chart, where minimum ice extent for each year is represented by a stripe starting in 1979 and going to 2023.
Each stripe is ranked in order of minimum to maximum sea ice extent, with white colors representing more sea ice extent and red colors representing less ice extent. Each stripe has also been assigned a tone from the C-major scale, starting with C1 and going to A6.
